Expected outcomes of student learning:
1. Ability to read and critically evaluate research in selected areas of communications and signal processing.
2. Ability to mathematically model communication and signal processing systems.
3. Ability to design a Monte Carlo simulation for performance analysis of communications and signal processing systems.
4. Ability to implement signal processing algorithms with modern hardware.

The letter grade assignment is based on the following scale: from 100 to 90 pts. => A, from 89 to 80 pts. => B, from 79 to 70 pts => C, from 69 to 0 pts. => E.
The homework assignment will consist of doing a literature review and a computer simulation. These assignments are especially intended to help the student prepare for the written report, which is the subject of the written report on literature reading.
The implementation project will involve designing a simple DSP system using the TMS320C6711 processor on real time video (TMS320C6000 DSP Imaging Developer's Kit (IDK)).
