Introduction
The Singing Bridge (037B00065), also known as the St. Clair Street Bridge, carries US 60X over the Kentucky River in Frankfort, Kentucky. The bridge gets its name from the distinctive noise created by the open-grate steel deck as vehicles cross. Built in 1894 by the King Bridge Company, it is part of the Frankfort Commercial Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The bridge was closed to traffic in August 2024 due to structural deficiencies identified during a KYTC inspection. It is essential to monitor the movement of the bridge abutments at both ends.
